Whole 30 Week 1

 In Food, Lifestyle, Recipes

My life tip: Don’t start the Whole 30 for anybody else. This is about you and your body, do it for YOU 🙂

Alright- I’ve officially finished my first week following the Whole30 lifestyle and I survived! (kidding, but TBH I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to follow it).  At the start of the new year I decided that I wanted to really focus on transforming my lifestyle. I plan to become healthier on the inside and outside while maintaining a positive mindset. I’ve starting adding the organic skincare line, TULA into my routine and am completely obsessed with the hydrating moisturizer already. I realized that a big portion of creating my new and improved lifestyle definitely would revolve around food.

I usually try to eat healthy foods and follow a balanced diet, but I felt like I got out of control over winter break and the holidays. Whether it’s movie nights, brunch, or late night pizza with friends, I found a lot of my plans involved eating.  In order to reset and get back on track I decided to start the infamous Whole30 program.

What is Whole30?
I’m sure you have heard about it, whether from your favorite bloggers or healthy friends, people are talking about it. Whole30 was created in 2009 by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. Essentially you can eat vegetables, fruit, and meat along with healthy fats (think lots of eggs, sweet potato, almonds, and avocado). You cut out all dairy and grains along with added sugars, legumes, MSG, and alcohol.

Sounds crazy right?

I agree with you…I thought this sounded completely ridiculous when I heard about it last year. But, I’ve made some really good meals already and it’s definitely not as hard as it seems. I’ve felt myself being more conscious about the portions I’m eating and only eating when I’m really hungry, helping to cut out meaningless snacks.

Whole30 is also supposed to help with health issues and energy levels. I’ve been a migraine sufferer for years, and fingers crossed this helps with my headaches too! I’ve been posting my meals and prep on my Instagram stories so be sure to follow along. Pinterest is also a huge huge help for finding recipes. Follow along on Pinterest and check out my recipe board, too 🙂

Here are some links to my favorite recipes I’ve made so far:
Mango Chicken and Cauliflower Rice
Sweet Potato and Egg Skillet
Creamy Balsamic Chicken and Brussel Sprouts

You can shop some of my favorite Whole30 starter items if you’re interested!

Have you done Whole30 before? I’d love to hear about your experience.  Also, if any of you want to start doing Whole30 or are doing it now- connect with me! I’d love to have some buddies throughout the process 🙂

Xx,

Lauren

I've never gone on Whole30 before, but I've thought about it plenty of times. Anyone I know who's done it has had really great experiences, so I'd love to see how it would work for me. Best of luck to you, girlfriend!

You go girl! This definitely looks like it takes a lot of drive + determination, but it seems like you've got a hold on your organization and prep, which is so important! The payoff will totally be worth it!!

To be honest I hadn't heard of this before, so I'm glad you actually told me about this! Sticking to something like this doesn't have to be a burden at all, but something that makes you think about the fact and cliché that "your body is your temple" and you have to treat it right!
